Accessibility Statement
At FEV Tutor, we understand the importance of creating a website that is usable by everyone, including those who have disabilities. We are currently partnering with accessibility leader Deque in our aim to meet or exceed the Web Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 Level AA (WCAG 2.1 AA). While we are not yet compliant, we are investing actively in ongoing improvements, including doing a complete rewrite of our virtual classroom.
Current State:
All FEV Tutor sessions occur in the whiteboard, a web-based, highly interactive hub for student-tutor interaction and shared work. FEV’s two-way virtual whiteboard offers each student multiple means of engaging with the content, giving the student a choice in how to communicate with their tutor.
For ELL learners, all FEV Tutor instruction is chat-based. Students can opt-in to audio to speak with their tutor, but tutors do not use audio or video at any time.
This allows for a seamless, automatic integration of a Google Translate plugin. Through this plug-in and the chat interface, tutors can communicate in more than 100 languages, including Spanish.
Materials for families – such as guides for using the platform, advertisements, and notifications – are also available in Spanish.
We also offer other supports for ELLs, including:
- Visual accompaniments
- Vocabulary and background knowledge supplements
- Scaffolding complex tasks
- Simplified language
Ongoing Updates
We will continue to make updates to improve accessibility and share them on this page. If you have questions or would like more information, email the FEV Tutor accessibility team at accessibility@fevtutor.com. We can provide you with our current VPAT and answer any specific questions you may have.
